BASC

Building a Safer Community (BASC)

Building a Safer Community (BASC) aligns public safety activities such as fire and rescue, road safety, health and safety and emergency planning with justice policy and Government strategies. It recognises the inter-dependence between social inclusion and community safety.

BASC is fundamentally about our systemic response to crime, disorder, antisocial or harmful behaviours and the associated harm caused.

Firefighters will join Police, Customs, Ambulance, Probation and Youth Service officers to raise awareness of everyday dangers and explain the consequences of criminal or antisocial behaviour to students in Year 8.

Our focus is highlighting the impact of prank calls, lighting fires and arson.
