On-Call Firefighter training at the former Oaklands Lodge site
On Tuesday 24 February 2026, more than 40 of our dedicated on-call firefighters took part in a high intensity, three-hour drill at the former Oaklands Lodge site.

A smoke test will take place in the tunnel this evening from 7pm, reopening at 6am tomorrow morning (Wednesday 22 January).
Islanders seeing smoke coming out of the tunnel do not need to be alarmed.
The test simulates the smoke generated from a fire, helping Infrastructure and Environment colleagues to understand the requirements for future safety improvements to the tunnel.
