Around 30 people were evacuated from a building this evening, after a fire broke out in an apartment and smoke quickly spread around the building.
The Fire and Rescue Service were called to the block of self-catering apartments at 10:45pm, after a resident awoke to a fire and heavy smoke in his room.
He managed to escape after throwing a fire blanket over the flames and was later treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to deal with the fire and smoke spread.
The residents have been re-accommodated in a nearby hotel whilst an investigation and clear up are underway.
