Meet our new On-Call Firefighters

We are proud to welcome JJ Lloyd, Colin Brady, Bethany Moisan, and Stephen Reed to the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service. These four dedicated individuals have successfully qualified as on-call firefighters and will be stationed at our St Helier headquarters.

On Monday, 1 December 2025, during their pass out parade, the team showcased their skills in a road traffic collision exercise, working alongside colleagues from the States of Jersey Ambulance Service to rescue two casualties. This demonstration highlighted the teamwork and expertise they will bring to real-life emergencies.

Having completed their initial training, Colin, JJ, Bethany, and Stephen have now joined their on-call crews. They are ready to respond to emergencies and serve our community with professionalism and courage. In front of family and friends, the new firefighters were presented with their certificates of achievement by Deputy Chief Fire Officer Bryn Coleman and Area Commander Lee Drawbridge. After weeks of training and hard work, this was a proud moment for everyone involved.

On-call firefighters are a vital part of the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service, providing emergency cover alongside full-time crews. They respond to incidents such as fires, road traffic collisions, cliff rescues, and water rescues, and work closely with partner agencies to save lives and protect property. While on duty, they carry a pager that alerts them to attend the fire station when an incident occurs. Their role also includes providing community safety advice and assisting with medical co-response until paramedics arrive. They train regularly in firefighting, rescue techniques, and first aid to maintain high standards of operational readiness. Many balance this role with other jobs or commitments, offering flexibility while making a real difference to the community.

The addition of these four firefighters is a significant enhancement to our HQ on-call section, further increasing our operational capability. We congratulate them on successfully passing their course and wish them the very best for their future with Jersey Fire and Rescue.

Welcome to the team!
