In the event of an emergency call 999
After attending a small incident yesterday (Saturday 18 January 2025), involving unattended cooking that caused smoke logging, we discovered that the property had no fire detection installed.
We immediately fitted one of our smoke alarms to address this.
Today, we followed up by conducting a 'hot strike' in the surrounding area. During this initiative, we visited approximately 45 flats. Unfortunately, we were unable to make contact with over 50 per cent of the occupants.
However, from the 20 flats where we did gain access, we fitted two new batteries into existing detectors that had flat batteries and didn't work, additionally we distributed and installed eight new smoke detectors, providing these properties with a vital early warning system in the event of a fire.
We strongly urge anyone without fire detection in their home to contact our Fire Safety Department on 01534 445933. Our team can provide advice or arrange for a crew to visit, deliver guidance, and potentially fit a detector to ensure your safety.
Early detection is critical in giving you and your family the best chance in the unfortunate event of a fire.

Matt Roberts set off at 4pm on Easter Saturday and ran for 23 hours to complete the challenge.
