On Tuesday 24 February 2026, more than 40 of our dedicated on-call firefighters took part in a high intensity, three-hour drill at the former Oaklands Lodge site.
In the event of an emergency call 999
At approximately 11:00am this morning, Wednesday 11th June, our Combined Control Centre received an emergency call reporting a student who had fallen and sustained a leg injury while walking on one of the cliff paths between Greve de Lecq and Plemont.
Emergency crews, including paramedics and firefighters, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Thanks to the use of the What3Words app, responders were able to pinpoint the exact location of the casualty, ensuring a swift and effective response.
On arrival, paramedics provided immediate medical attention to the young male. Due to the challenging terrain, firefighters then took turns to carefully carry the casualty to a waiting fire service 4x4 all-terrain vehicle. From there, he was transferred—along with paramedics—back to the rendezvous point where an ambulance was waiting. The casualty was then taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
This incident is a reminder of the importance of being prepared when exploring Jersey’s beautiful coastline. As the weather continues to warm up, we encourage all islanders and visitors to enjoy the outdoors safely. Please make sure someone knows your route, take care on uneven paths, and consider using location tools like What3Words to help emergency services find you quickly if needed.
