In the event of an emergency call 999
At approximately 11:00 PM on Tuesday evening, the Fire Service Combined Control Centre received a call reporting a structure fire in the St. Brelade area.
Two fire appliances were immediately dispatched from Fire HQ, with an additional water carrier deployed due to the locations restricted water supply.
Upon arrival, crews were faced with a two-storey building, approximately 10 metres by 15 metres, fully engulfed in flames.
Access to the property was challenging, requiring firefighters to navigate through neighbouring properties and wooded areas to establish a water supply and begin fire suppression efforts.
Additional resources were mobilised to prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding area. At the height of operations, more than 20 firefighters were actively involved in bringing the blaze under control. Crews remained on scene for approximately four hours to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the area was made safe.
The Fire Service will return to the scene of operations in the hours of daylight and an investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.
Watch Commander Ryan would like to highlight the vital role played by On-Call firefighters in incidents such as this, stating, “This type of incident demonstrates the importance of our On-Call colleagues. It is no doubt that without their support, we would not have been able to bring this fire to such a successful conclusion within such a short time period."
