Firefighters from Green Watch returned to Clairval Farm in St Saviour this week – not for a rescue, but to meet a new arrival with a familiar connection.
Last summer, the crew were called out to assist when a cow, Meep Meep, became stuck under a gate in the early hours of the morning. She was safely freed, but the farmer and attending vet were unsure how long she’d been trapped and were concerned the stress might affect her ability to calve.
Months later, the farm got in touch with some unexpected news: Meep Meep was pregnant.
She recently gave birth to a healthy calf at sunrise in the field. As a nod to the firefighters who helped ensure Meep Meep’s well-being, farmer Zoe invited Green Watch back to name the newborn.
The team chose the name Jade and had the chance to meet her in person.
Jade is now thriving at the farm, and Meep Meep has made a full recovery.

This morning, White Watch responded to a heart warming call for help — not from a person, but from the Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA). The mission? To reunite a devoted mother duck with her missing ducklings in St. Brelade.
