How to make a 999 call
To mark International Control Room Week, we are raising awareness of what information you need to make a 999 call and what the control room operator will ask.
In the event of an emergency call 999
Our team was called to help rescue a lovely English Bulldog named George Bullfrog (yes, that’s his full name!) who decided to go exploring along the north coast at Bouley Bay.
During his walk, George took a tumble off the cliff path and landed on a ledge 15 meters below. His exact location was unknown, so our drone team searched the area and spotted him safe but stuck.
With soft ground and steep terrain making rope rescue tricky, our crew hiked 1km with heavy gear and used natural anchor points 100m away to safely lower rescuers to George. He was very friendly and very happy to see us.
A big shout out to George’s walker who did the right thing by calling us instead of trying to climb down. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, please stay safe and call for help.
Tools like “What3Words” are incredibly helpful for us to locate you quickly and plan the best access routes.
We’re happy to report that George is absolutely fine after his adventure and is still very energetic.
