Petrol is dangerous. We want to make sure that everyone who transports or stores certain quantities and needs a petroleum licence, has one.
So, Fire Safety Officers are informing and reminding members of the public and commercial operators of the legal limits for storing and transporting petroleum without a licence.
It’s to ensure safety regulations are followed and to minimise the risks associated with handling petroleum.
Storing petrol, even in small quantities, carries risk. When not handled safely, it has the potential to cause a serious fire and/or explosion.
If you keep petrol at your home or business, it could be regulated by law.
You can find out more details of the legal limits, if you need a petroleum licence and how to apply here.
