The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service is calling on property owners and developers to help support firefighter training by offering access to empty domestic or commercial properties.
As part of ongoing efforts to ensure crews remain fully prepared to respond to emergencies, the service is seeking unused buildings where it can safely conduct breathing apparatus training. This essential training helps firefighters maintain the skills and confidence needed to work in smoke-filled and hazardous environments.
Realistic training environments are critical. Having access to empty buildings - whether houses, offices, or industrial units - allows crews to practice in conditions that closely mimic real incidents, without putting lives or property at risk.
The Service is appealing to anyone with knowledge of vacant properties, whether short or long term, to get in touch or help spread the word.
Anyone interested in assisting is encouraged to contact the service by emailing s.admin@gov.je.
