In the event of an emergency call 999
At approximately 7:00pm this evening, the Emergency Services Control Centre dispatched two fire engines to a report of smoke logging in a fourth-floor flat’s kitchen area in St Helier.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met by the occupant, who confirmed their property was smoke-logged and that their smoke alarms were activating. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus promptly entered the affected property, isolated the power supply, and safely removed the faulty equipment involved.
Positive pressure ventilation was then used to clear the smoke from the flat. No injuries were reported, and the occupants were able to return to their home shortly afterward.
We would like to commend the actions of the occupier for recognizing the danger, promptly alerting the Fire Service, and following safety procedures by getting out and staying out.

Matt Roberts set off at 4pm on Easter Saturday and ran for 23 hours to complete the challenge.
