Unattended cooking

Earlier today, Jersey Fire & Rescue responded to a St Helier property following reports of smoke being visible and an activating smoke alarm within. On arrival crews quickly forced entry and found unattended cooking to be the cause. Thankfully there was no serious damage and no one was harmed as a result. We would like to remind all islanders to ensure appliances are turned off if you intend on leaving your property, and please make sure you have working smoke alarms that are regularly tested.
