On-Call Firefighter training at the former Oaklands Lodge site
On Tuesday 24 February 2026, more than 40 of our dedicated on-call firefighters took part in a high intensity, three-hour drill at the former Oaklands Lodge site.
In the event of an emergency call 999
White Watch conducted a rope rescue training exercise on the north coast of the island.
Training in realistic environments like this tests and challenges the crews' operational and tactical procedures when dealing with such an incident.
This exercise involved two casualties in a precarious position.
As we would in a real life scenario, we launched our inshore rescue boat to assist alongside rope rescue operatives.
We would like to thank the relevant landowners who allowed us access, Jersey Coastguard for their assistance and also Air Rescue Channel Islands who assisted in the running of the exercise by providing overhead visual support for our operations commanders, and also provided some of these great images.

We are proud to welcome JJ Lloyd, Colin Brady, Bethany Moisan, and Stephen Reed to the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service as our new on-call firefighters.
